Ethel Residences Wins Inaugural UDIA Queensland Made for People Award

August 05, 2026

We are delighted to share that Ethel Residences has received the inaugural UDIA Queensland Made for People: Enriching Communities Award, announced at today’s UDIA Queensland Breakfast with the Premier, David Crisafulli MP.

Following its success in the Affordable Housing category at the UDIA Queensland Awards for Excellence, Ethel Residences became eligible for this new award, which recognises projects that make a meaningful difference in the lives of Queenslanders and the communities they call home.

What makes this award particularly special is that it looks beyond bricks and mortar. Rather than focusing solely on design, scale or technical achievement, the Made for People Award celebrates the people behind the project and, most importantly, the lived experiences of the residents whose lives have been positively impacted.

Ethel Residences provides safe, secure and affordable homes for 34 households and demonstrates what can be achieved when government, community housing providers and institutional investors come together with a shared purpose.

The development was delivered through the BHC-QIC Consortium, with funding support from the Queensland Government, institutional investment from Australian Retirement Trust, and financing from Housing Australia.

This recognition belongs to the many people and organisations who helped bring Ethel Residences to life, and to the residents who make it a community.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this remarkable achievement.
