Joe and Cathy’s Story

October 20, 2025

Joe and Cathy are residents of Jingeri, our development located in Enoggera.

Jingeri was built in partnership with the Department of Communities, Disabilities Services and Seniors and the Department of Housing and Public Works. The development offers 10 “Gold Liveable Housing Design Standard” one bedroom units for people living with a disability through the Elderly Parent Carer Innovation Initiative (EPCII).

Joe’s Story

Before moving into Jingeri, Joe lived with his mother, Rosemary, in their family home for 11 years. Joe lives with cerebral palsy and Rosemary has been his primary and only carer since he was born 37 years ago. Joe’s goal is to live independently in his own home, however finding a suitable property to meet his needs has not been possible, until now.

Cathy’s Story

After living with her parents for over 20 years, Cathy enjoys waking up in her own space at Jingeri. Living independently now means family and friends can visit her home, instead of coming to my parents. The independence and freedom of living at Jingeri has given Cathy the drive to do things she once might have been afraid of.
