Leading social and affordable housing developer BHC is welcoming three new State-appointed Directors including a new Independent Chair to the organisation for a three-year term.
BHC Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Oelkers said the new Board members join at an exciting time in the company’s trajectory with the organisation currently delivering the largest social and affordable housing pipeline in its 23-year history.
“We are pleased to welcome Karen Howard, who will assume the role of Independent Chair of the Board,” Ms Oelkers said.
“The new State nominated Directors, Juliette Wright OAM and Margaret Forrest will be formally presented for approval at the next BHC Board meeting.”
“They join a strong Board and their contribution will be crucial as we continue to deliver an unprecedented quantum of social and affordable housing for Queenslanders.
“We are laser focussed on working with the State Government to reach their ambitious targets of 53,500 social and affordable homes by 2044.”
Ms Oelkers paid tribute to the contribution of outgoing Directors Eloise Atkinson, Stacey Ross and Geoff Woolcock.
“We acknowledge the incredible contribution from the outgoing Directors, including Eloise Atkinson, who has served on the Board for 18 years, including nine years as Independent Chair,” she said.
“Eloise’s unwavering leadership and integrity, combined with her design and architectural expertise, played a pivotal role in shaping BHC’s organisational vision, helping turn bold ideas into real homes for thousands of Queenslanders.”
“Stacey Ross and Geoff Woolcock have each made invaluable contributions during their respective tenures of nine and sixteen years, bringing expertise, strong sector knowledge and clarity to the Board.
“Their contributions and strong focus on outcomes and accountability have helped shape our direction and impact.
“We are grateful for their time, expertise and dedication.”
