Supporting residents to achieve their life goals

We know that the homes we create provide a critical platform for people to move forward with their lives. To empower people and help them to reach towards their goals and to live their lives with dignity and hope, some residents may also need support and opportunities to participate in employment, training, social and community activities.

BHC are funding a range of programs and services to support residents achieve their life goals including:

 

Coffee Connections 

In partnership with YFS social enterprise, Substation 33, a solar-powered social enterprise coffee cart, Coffee Connections is aimed to support residents to increase their economic participation. A soft skills project, offering BHC residents with place-based skills building in customer service and hospitality, including barista training.

Resident Employment and Participation Coordinator

Helping you get into training, volunteering or work opportunities.

Have you been thinking about training, developing a new skill, volunteering or getting into employment? BHC’s new Resident Employment and Participation Coordinator, Anthony, is available to support residents reach their goals.

Past Programs

Art Therapy Program

Facilitated by Communify, BHC residents are invited to participate in an art therapy program at the New Farm Neighbourhood Centre covering a range of art styles and processes including painting, drawing, collage, writing and ceramics. An experienced, creative well-being art therapist takes participants through this varied and creative program.

This free program was designed to be a safe, relaxed and inclusive space for everyone.

 

Body and Mind Program

BHC partnership with the Yoga Partnership; a charity founded to bring yoga to those who need it the most.

Mindfulness and body movement classes delivered for residents in the Bowen Hills and Fortitude Valley communities.

 

 

Financial Literacy Program

With the support of an experienced counsellor from Uniting Care, small group workshops were delivered, to equip residents with strategies to increase resilience and management.
