”It has changed my life… there is more shininess than there used to be, there really is.”
Maureen was fortunate to receive an Educate and Participate Grant as part of the BHC’s Impact Fund 2021/22 grant allocations. Maureen’s grant supported her to purchase vital health equipment, that is not otherwise supported through health or government supports.
Maureen is one of 20 residents who received an Educate and Participate grant in 2021/22, with these grants designed to support residents in financial hardship to achieve their employment, education and participation goals. Receiving this grant has been life-changing for Maureen.
“One day I got this phone call from Sam, and I’m not sure who was more emotional, her or me, we both cried and it’s changed my world and I’m so grateful. I’m so grateful to the people that donate the money,” said Maureen.
“This has made such a difference to my life… I feel well, I’m going swimming every second day. So grateful- because it has changed my life… there is more shininess than there used to be, there really is.”
The Impact Fund is made possible through the financial support of BHC’s social purpose real estate agency, Elevate Residential, which directs 100% of its profits to the Fund. Learn more about Elevate’s commitment to creating real change for Queenslanders in need.
